Why won't my video convert? Common errors and fixes
Most conversion failures have a simple cause. This page lists the messages you may see in ClipZen, what they really mean and what you can try. Some cases cannot be fixed on purpose: ClipZen does not bypass protections or sign-ins.
The link itself
“This link is not supported or does not lead to a video”
The address is not from a supported source or does not point to a single video. Copy the link from the video's own page, and check that it starts with https://. The home page lists the platforms ClipZen supports; compatibility can vary from one link to the next.
Playlists are not supported
Paste the link of one video, not of a playlist, a channel or a search page.
Live streams and premieres are not supported
Wait until the broadcast has ended and been published as a regular video, then try again.
Access restrictions
“This video is private or requires you to sign in”
Private, members-only, age-restricted or sign-in-only videos cannot be converted, because ClipZen does not log in or bypass access restrictions.
“This content is protected by DRM”
DRM-protected content is deliberately not converted.
“This video is not available in your country”
Regional restrictions are not bypassed.
“This video is unavailable or has been removed”
Check the link in your browser: the video may have been deleted or made private.
Limits of your account level
“This video is too long”
Each account level has a maximum duration. The limits for your level are shown on the home page, and a free account raises them.
File too large or choices greyed out
The estimated file would exceed the maximum size allowed. Pick a lower resolution or a lower MP3 bitrate, or learn how resolution affects size.
Daily limit reached
The home page shows how many conversions remain and a countdown to the reset.
Temporary problems
- “The platform is limiting requests” – wait a while and try again.
- “Connection problem with the source” – the source did not answer in time. Try again in a minute.
- “The server is busy” – too many conversions at once; try again shortly.
- “The requested quality is not available” – choose another resolution from the list.
Still stuck? Try the link in your browser first to make sure the video plays, then paste it again. See also how the video to MP3 converter works.
Ready to convert a link?
Paste the link of a video you have the right to convert, choose MP3 or MP4, and download the file.
Open the converterThe converter itself is currently in French: the buttons are named MP3, MP4 and “Choisir la qualité ou le format” (choose quality or format).
Frequently asked questions
Why does a video work for someone else but not for me?
Availability can depend on your country, on the platform at that moment and on your account level's limits.
Can ClipZen convert private or members-only videos?
No. It does not sign in or bypass access restrictions.
Why does it say the video is too long?
Your account level has a maximum duration. Check the limits on the home page.
Does retrying help?
For temporary errors (connection, rate limits, busy server), yes: wait a minute and retry. For private, DRM or removed videos, no.
